1925, and the Ericksons. It is integral in the streetscape and townscape character of Mukinbudin.

History

For the isolated settlers before 1910, mail was delivered as far as
Mangowine. In 1910, the mail centre was at Nangeenan, and Tom Adams delivered the mail. In 1911, an allowance office was established at Nungarin, with a weekly service to Mukinbudin after 1915. In 1922, the Co-op, in Mukinbudin was made the'Muckenbooding' receiving office. In 1923, EB White purchased the store and PO, and his 15 year old son did the mail deliveries. When Mr & Mrs Tug Wilson took over in 1924, they relocated the post office to the former White's butcher shop building, and then moved again in 1925 to another building when the phone exchange was installed. That building is part of the existing post office building. In 1928, Mr & Mrs Michael Hannay bought the PO, premises and twenty line switchboard of the phone exchange. They extended the building to incorporate improved living quarters, an agency office and drapery store. In 1935, after retaining the PO, Hannay's daughter Frances and her husband, Snow Erickson, ran the business until their retirement in 1972. The phone exchange which had been run by Mrs May Maddock since 1943, was converted to automatic in 1971.
