Cunderdin's first bakery wsa established in 1908 by W Gurr and J Vierk (this may have been a temporary premises).
The bakery building opened between March and October 1909, it was called the Premier Bakery- bakers, confectioners and pastry cooks. Jack Vierk was the baker and W Gurr was asupervisor at the construction of the Coolgardie Water SCheme before going into partnership with Vierk. Their partnership dissolved in 1910 and W Gurr died in 1911. Vierk carried on with the business until he retired to South Perth in 1938.
