Statement of Significance
The site has research value as it has potential to contain subsurface archaeological remains. The site has historic value for its association with the settlement of the area in the 1910's and 1920's.
The site has social value for its association with the provision of education in the Ten Mile Hill area.
Physical Description
No evidence remains.
History
In November 1912 a deputation of parents from the ten mile hill area met with an Education Department representative to discuss establishing a school and to inspect the chosen site.
The result was the recommendation that a school be built and it was suggested that the Jimperding School be moved to Ten Mile Hill, although this was unsuitable. In February 1913 approval was given for a new school and building was completed in July 1913. The school opened on 1 September 1913 with eight Chitty children, three Sinclairs and three Markeys.
In 1925 attendances fell below the required eight students and the school closed. The building was relocated to Corondeen.
