House, 216 South Terrace, is a single storey brick and iron house dating from 1909. The place has aesthetic value for its contribution to the streetscape and the surrounding area. It is representative of the typical building stock located within the residential areas of Fremantle. It is historically significant as a representation of typical workers' houses in the Fremantle area. The place is an example of the Federation Bungalow style of architecture.
House, 216 South Terrace is a single storey, single room width, brick and zincalume house designed as an example of the Federation Bungalow style of architecture. The walls are rendered brick. The roof is gabled and clad with zincalume. The gable end is infilled with zincalume. The verandah has a separate roof supported by timber posts. The front façade has a front door with side lights and three timber framed windows. There is a low brick wall to the front boundary line.
The rate book shows a cottage and shop room here in 1909-10.
This property was offered for sale in April 1978 and the Sunday Independent described the house as having 2 bedrooms, an arched passageway, lounge and kitchen. The photo shows a narrow dwelling with a gabled roof with the ridge running to the back, a chimney near the centre of the house, and an enclosed bull-nosed verandah at the front. The front verandah has a lattice entry door on the right hand side surrounded by lattice, with lattice panels on either side of a double sash window to the left, with solid walls above and below the window. The house has a narrow setback behind a post and cyclone mesh fence with a cyclone mesh gate opposite the entry door.
