RETAIN AND CONSERVE IF POSSIBLE Retain and conserve if possible: provide maximum encouragement to the owner to conserve the significance of the place. Photographic record required prior to any major redevelopment or demolition.

Statement of Significance

Has some significance as older kiln incorporated into newer kilns.

Physical Description

Kiln noted to be 70m north of house but now appears to be incorporated into extant kilns 51, 52 i.e.
one of these was an extension of earlier kiln 13. It is the eastern one that still has a free-standing
interior wall, that implies the enlargement of the earlier Kiln 13. The 'D' shaped kilns present today
have rounded buttresses and comparatively small burning chambers. The kilns have large cracks in
their side walls, the upper walls have collapsed but timberwork still exists around the doorways.
Vegetation is now close to structure and the bagging floor has become overgrown.

History

The New Wanneroo Lime Company operated the later kilns (51, 52) c1957 - 1967.
