The No. 6 substation, East Perth, has cultural heritage significance because:
The building has strong aesthetic value in its unusal forms and spaces that arise from its staged development.
The building has some value in the streetscape setting and as part of a collective whole comprising; the Boans warehouse, the substation and No. 83 Brown Street.
It is a representation of the industrial nature of East Perth throughout its history particularly as much of this industrial fabric has been removed.
The substation has some social value in its association with hte story of the provision of power in Western Australia.
A single storied red brick industrial building with pitched corrugated sheet roof, built to the two street boundaries. former window openings have been bricked up, E.P.R.A.
See State Register of Heritage Places assessment document.
Low level of integrity as it is no longer used for its original purpose.
Low level of authenticity as the place has been altered internally and externally to accommodate its new use.
