Statement of Significance

Historic - the only Police Outstation in our district, nearest other stations were at Eticup and Police
Pools. Chest Pass Road was named after PC George Chester who was stationed here. The station was
broken up in 1868.
Social - among the buildings at Madgedup was a small store which supplied the sandalwood cutters in
the area.
Aesthetic - only example of Flemish Bond brickwork to be found in the Shire of Gnowangerup.

Madgedup is located near the creek on Stone's.property. Madgedup has Flemish bond brickwork, stonework in stables, iron rooves.

History

Madgedup was taken up in: the name of the Police Board in 1860 as a Police Outstation.
