The significance of this site is the education brought to the Wolgoolan District.
The school was very small with windows without flyscreen and a verandah at the front. A potbelly stove stood in the corner. It is set in a natural clearing west of the townsite with a plaque in situ.
The School was established in 1930. Education for isolated areas was homeschool. Eight children were enrolled at Woolgoolan and had an average of seven children attending. As the enrolment was above eight the Government would establish a school with a certified teacher. If the numbers decreased application for an assisted school would be made. Before the school was opened the children used to have their lessons in the hall.
