East Wanneroo School (Site) has historic significance representing the development and settlement
of Wanneroo, and also the provision of education in the State. Despite its demolition/relocation of the
building the site has value to the community as a reminder of its role and contribution to the historical
development of Wanneroo.
Site Only - The one room classroom established her in 1904 has been relocated to Perry's Paddock (P9484) in 1992.
In August 1904 a one classroom school which became known as 'Jandabup' was established at East
Wanneroo. It was the third Government school in the district built here in 1904 on the east side of
Badgerup Rd. About 15-18 students attended.Students numbered nine girls and seven boys and the
first teacher was Robert Burns who was then followed by Francis Cockman. The school closed in
1926 and the students were transferred to Wanneroo. In 1928 the school was relocated to the
Wanneroo School site at the corner of Wanneroo Road and Dundebar Road. The Wanneroo School
closed in 1959. (Chambers & Aris) The old school was relocated to Perry's Paddock in 1992 due to
the realignment of Wanneroo Road.
