The precinct represents the evolution of Burakin and demonstrates associations with pioneers of different generations.
The first settler in the area was Thomas Gray, who took up land in 1909. At a meeting of the Duli progress association on 17 June 1913, it was resolved to pressure the Government for a railway line east of the Goomalling Mullewa line, running parallel on the north south direction, in order to open up the area. The Labor Government of the day agreed to the proposal, but World War One intervened and it did not proceed. By 1923, general settlement was taking place in anticipation of the railway line. In 1925, Goody and Garrity, Ballidu shopkeepers, started a weekly goods and mail run to Burakin, and later opened a shop one day a week in Burakin. The Railway opened through to Burakin in 1929, and facilitated development of the area, although the Depression hit and by the 1930s settlement was stifled.
Burakin was the site for the railway houses as it was the place where the line split to Bonnie Rock or Kalannie.
In Cant St, behind the Store , Lance Bird's Wigmore and Catepillar agency was located.
