The place, for its building form and architectural characteristics, makes a positive contribution to the streetscape and is representative of early development within Bayswater. The place is indicative of the speculative building and land development that occurred in Bayswater c. 1904 - 1907.
Timber frame and jarrah weatherboard house with corrugated iron roof comprising a main hipped roof and gable roof to each of two projecting wings - one at the front and one to the side. A separate bull-nose iron roof covers the verandah which runs across the front and side between the projecting wings. This verandah roof is supported on full height timber posts which also support the side verandah which is elevated because of the ground slope. Windows are generally of the double hung wooden sash frame type.
This house was built by John A. Makin in 1908. Almondbury Street was situated on land which had been acquired by the Intercolonial Land and Investment Company, clearly taking the opportunity to benefit from the increased saleability of Bayswater land in 1904.
