Despite some one hundred and seventy years of close connections between India and Western Australia ?
this is one of the few bungalows in the Indian manner to be found in Cottesloe. Built in a boom penod it
sits between two other houses of similar age 3 and 11 and substance making an attractive streetscape. "^
Part of what is proposed as an hentage precinct.
An Edwardian bungalow [1905-8] in the Indian tradition with hipped roof and central gable over a
prominent arched porch. Two other gables face east and west as do the ventilatory gablets with louvred
slats. The roof is terracotta the walls tuckpointed bnck are now painted. Bay windows project into the
verandah. Slender circular columns hold up the north facing verandah. Tall corbelled chimneys are
covered with roughcast render. The house has been divided at some time into two apartments
In 1908 C. T. Hicks lived here.
Mrs Ruth ? of the Croesus South Goldmine, Kalgoorile owned the property in 1913.
