Statement of Significance

The building was constructed during the Depression times of the 1930s, so that expectant mothers could stay there from the country. It is an example of the community banding together to help those in need during hard times.

Physical Description

The building was originally constructed with full width front and rear verandahs, a large open space internally, with a smaller room in the SE corner for expectant mothers, plus a kitchen. The wall forming the small room has now been removed, to create one large open space. There is a brass plate, mounted on a Jarrah plaque 30 cm x 15 cm, with the following inscription:

This room has been furnished by the Bush Nursing society of W.A. on the understanding that it shall be available for the accommodation of expectant and convalescent mothers. 2 2nd. March 1935.
