Statement of Significance

The site represents an association with a pioneer family and a way of
life no longer practiced.

History

The Dearlove Homestead was the terminus
for the fortnightly mailrun from Wickepin. The mail contractor drove his horse and cart to Wogolin and
then Dudinin before riding out to Traysurin Soak at Dearloves. Neighbouring families would ride to
Dearloves to collect or send their mail and stores. Mrs Dearlove held open days on Sundays for
lunch. Later a single phone line was connected to the homestead for an emergency communication
link. The Dearlove family still run the property.
