The Albany Highway Bridge near Gosnells Hotel was originally built 1868 in the time of Henry Passmore who was the Engineer in charge of convict labour teams. When building the bridge, Henry Passmore developed the first artesian bore in WA while looking for coal deposits along river banks. The Gosnells Bridge is also known as the Upper Canning Bridge. It has been renovated, resurfaced and rebuilt over the years so that this bridge bears little resemblence tothe original Albany Highway Bridge.
The Albany Highway Bridge is in fact two bridges side by side - MRWA 2 and MRWA 955.
