Sugar Loaf Rock, a natural feature has cultural heritage significance as a tourist site and has scientific value as a nesting site for red tailed tropical birds, the site is scientifically significant particularly for ornithologists. As a prominent outcrop in the waters of Cape Naturaliste, the site sits as a significant visual landmark.
Sugar Loaf Rock was naturally formed and is home to red tailed tropical birds during the period between December and June. There are access roads and parking areas on the land side of the rock and walkways to the rock.
