Significant in its association with the development of the town after the railway came through in the late 1890's, and the presence of Methodist/Uniting community. Important as part of the group of early buildings along Paterson Street and the only Church in Mundijong townsite.
A modest Federation Carpenter Gothic style church building, featuring gable roof, symmetrical in design featuring high-pitched gable roof, lancet window glass, and triangular vent, and enclosed porch with lancet door. Set in the main street of Mundijong; opposite the railway line.
Before 1900, the Wesleyan Methodist Church established the Jarrahdale Mission. The Jarrahdale Sawmilling company made grants to the Church to cover most of the cost of operating the Mission. In February 1897, Reserve 3863 was first gazetted for Church purposes. [Government Gazette, 26/2/1897, p. 368, file 749/97] However, although Wesleyan The church was constructed in 1905 and opened in March 1906, originally as the Methodist Church. When the Methodist Church could no longer support a minister in the Jarrahdale Circuit, the area became part of the Pinjarra Circuit. In the 1960s, the Methodist Churches in Serpentine-Jarrahdale joined the Byford Presbyterian Church to form the North Murray United Parish. [Refer SJ1-02]
The church is now used as the Mundijong and District Community Church and Community Garden.
