The lookout site on the hill contains a stone cairn erected by the Mingenew Historical Society dedicated to the pioneers of the district.
A level site towards the summit of Mingenew Hill on the east side approached by a graded and sign-posted road to within 2/3 of the elevation. A walking path continues up to the site. Views of the town and countryside through 50°. At the highest point there is a stone cairn.
The Mingenew Hill was first recorded as "a remarkable ironstone hill" by the Gregory brothers in 1846. It was gazetted as a reserve when the Upper Irwin Road Board took office in 1901.
