Significant as an Individual Building. Retain and conserve if possible: endeavour to conserve the significance of the place through the provisions of the Town Planning Scheme. Photographically record the place prior to any major redevelopment or demolition.

Statement of Significance

A fine example of a Victorian Regency cottage displaying echoes of the old colonial buildings. It is a plain
no nonsense building of this type. One of a number of turn-of-the-century cottages in the street. It stands
next to number 22.

Physical Description

Turn of the century "Regency Revival" version of a colonial cottage. Symmetrical layout, U
shaped,hipped iron roof with tall corbelled chimneys decorated with brick brackets. Separate hipped roof
to front verandah. Champfered verandah posts, wooden floor, deep creamy -beige rendered stucco
with ashlar lines incised. Decorative quoins to building corners and around the front door and windows of
cream-painted render. Central Edwardian style door with one light above. The windows are double-hung
- a pair, with the prominent plaster surrounds with vermiculated keystones. Old iron roof with some lead
patching.

History

In 1905 Thomas Forty, boilermaker, owned the building.
