Timber frame and jarrah weatherboard cottage with corrugated iron hip roof and a separate bull nosed roof over the front and side verandah, which was supported on full height timber posts and approached by a short flight of steps. The rear section had a gable roof with a lean-to towards the rear and there was a lean-to extension to the right hand side. The central panelled front door had top and side lights, flanked by a double-hung sash window on each side. The brick chimney protruding through the hip roof had simple brick corbelled detail.
The land on which this house was built was owned by Frederick Crogan of the Government Printer's Office from 1907 until 1914. He lived in Newcastle Street, Perth and this would appear to have been a rental property which was later occupied by Harry Butler, a prominent environmentalist and television personality.
