The original Goblup farm was established c.1873 by Lady Cockburn-Campbell, developed into Goblup Estate by Lord Brassey in 1890. In 1904 the estate was split between brother Thomas and Ross Anderson, with Ross establishing Illareen homestead closer to the newly-established Katanning. The place has functioned as a pastoral station and stud farm.

‘The property known as ‘Illareen’ was formed when the large property ‘Goblup’ was divided by the owner Ross Anderson into two properties ‘Illareen’ and ‘Condeena’. This was in 1904. Ross Anderson died at Katanning in 1945. Before his death ‘Illareen’ was formed into a company known as R. Anderson Co.’
