Statement of Significance
High social and historic significance to the people of Wanneroo as it is comprised of the main
classroom of the first state school in Wanneroo and also a classroom from East Wanneroo.
Physical Description
A weatherboard two-room building with verandahs clad with fibro sheeting. Brick chimney.
History
This building is the combination of two historic schools. In 1899 the larger section of this building was
the new Wanneroo School. Student numbers increased so in 1928 the one-room East Wanneroo
school building was added to the original building.
After the new Wanneroo Primary School was built in 1958/59 the Forestry Department used the
building. When Wanneroo Road was widened the building had to be removed from the comer of
Dundebar Road. In 1992 it was relocated to Perry's Paddock.
