Statement of Significance

From 1906 to 1947 the building was located tl Kundip. Used for social occasions. Use lapsed after decline of
early mining boom but came into use again during the 1930's when Claude de Bernales carried out diamond
drilling. In 1934 a subsidised school operated in the hall. Teachers were KR Wood, Doreen West, Margaret
Carr and Hilda Marr. 'The mining resurgence was short lived and inhabitants of Kundip once again moved
away. In 1949 the building was dismantled, transported and re-erected in Hopetoun. The same year it was
hired at one pound per week for school classes.
