Statement of Significance

When Gutha had a larger population the hall was an important social centre for the settlement. Although still occasionally used, the building faces an uncertain future.

Physical Description

Stands in a bush setting within the Gutha townsite, which once accommodated a small settlement. Rectilinear in plan, under a gable roof, the building has a rendered pediment and battraces.
There is a bronze plaque, 46cm x 31cm, on an inside brick wall, at the rear of the stage, donated by the Gutha Progress Association, with the following inscription:
This plaque commemorates the memory of Pioneers and former Residents of Gutha at the "Back to Gutha" gathering on August 26th. 1978.

Integrity/Authenticity

Integrity:
The appearance of the hall from the road is as constructed, giving the building a degree of integrity despite additions and internal alterations.
Modifications:
Rear kitchen added; barbecue added (1987)

Fair - some cracking under windows and at buttraces, which are not keyed in
