St George's Church (fmr) is a fine example of Federation Carpenter Gothic architecture.
: A domestic style, free standing building set back from the street alignment. The building is intimate in scale and built in the Federation Carpenter Gothic style (Apperly et al, 1989: 124-127). The building is historically and aesthetically linked to St Matthew's Anglican Church at 30 Moran Street, Boulder, which is built in the same style.
The church building is rectangular in plan. The roof has short eaves and timber finials decorate the roof at the front apex of the building and the entry porch at the street elevation. The porch relieves the simplicity of the facade. The gabled walls feature timber fretwork.
The exterior walls are clad horizontally with weatherboards. Lancets within the nave match the lancets on the facade.
The church interior is austere with the exception of the ceiling that follows the roof line, and is clad with timber boards. The interior of the building has jarrah floorboards throughout.
The sanctuary and altar are raised and have been converted for use as a bathroom and kitchen respectfully.
The nave now functions for use as a single living and bedroom.
The interior layout of the place is clearly evident as a former church. Timber pews are along the side perimeter walls.
A gazebo was added to the west side of the site, c.1995-97. In 1997, the painted corrugated galvanised iron covering of the main roof was recovered with 'Colorbond'. Financial assistance for the work was received by the Heritage Council through a Heritage Grants Program.
The Insurance Plans for Boulder c. 1900 illustrate that Lot 74 had the Presby Church (built over Lot 75 boundary). The Church was constructed of iron. There also was a dwelling on Lot 75 constructed of wood with an iron verandah
