The single storey limestone and painted iron Police Station, in the Federation Arts and Crafts
style, has cultrual significance because:
it has considerable historical significance having
functioned as the local police presence in the district for some 90 years;
it is a fine, if austere, example of the Federation Arts and
Crafts style applied to a local police station;
it has social significance because of the amentiy which it
brought to the district during its operation.
The place is a pleasing, if austere, example of its style and period,
befitting a local police station of the time.
The Cottesloe Police Station was officially opened in May 1900.
Police then patrolled the areas of Cottesloe, PeppermintGrove and
Buckland Hill, on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. It was an
important amenity for the district until the end of the 1980s
Considerable historical significance. Now used by Blackwell &
Associates landscape architects as their office.
The place has been well conserved and sympathetically adapted
for the offices of a professional consultancy. Itretains a high level
of integrity.
