Statement of Significance

The North Baandee Townsite has some local historic significance as a former settlement in the district which provided for the social needs of the local community in terms of education and social activities.

Physical Description

Site not visited. All that remains of the North Baandee Townsite,
which is located in the north-east corner of the shire, are two timber framed, asbestos clad buildings- the former school and hall.

History

The North Baandee School closed approximately 4 years ago. [Local Knowledge] The
development of Kellerberrin as the district centre and improvements in transport resulted in the decline of the townsite.
