The place represents a way of life no longer practiced. Together
with the Store, it forms a streetscape.
The timber framed building is clad with weatherboard and has a corrugated iron roof.
It has a street verandah. It has a large shop room with a small "kitchen" at the rear.
The shop was financed by J Mullan senior in
1925. The butcher's shop supplied meat for the Railway workers and contract clearers in the area, as
well as the local boarding houses who also catered for the itinerant workers. Later Steve Powell ran a
green grocery store.
