Statement of Significance

The site has historic value for its association with the Chinese market gardeners who formerly occupied the
site and were important in the establishment of commercial gardens in the district

History

The site to the rear of this lot is adjacent to a waterway which was apparently used by Chinese market gardeners for
growing crops. Little information is currently available about the nature and extent of the market gardens or when
they were in existence.
