The area where the cemetery is located was once part of an early Aboriginal Reserve. It was known as a stopping place by Aboriginal people. It is now part of an A Class Reserve. It was once significant as a bush cemetery for the Gordon River area, and in recent times it has been re-opened as a public cemetery by the Shire.
The Yeriminup Cemetery is situated on open land surrounded by a number of mature trees. The area is now part of an A Class Reserve, vested in the Shire of Cranbrook for the purposes of a Public Cemetery. Photographs show graves of different kinds. Some have headstones and surrounding rocks. There are five
known graves in the cemeteiy.
