Aesthetically significant as an example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical timber framed single storey cottage dating from the first decades of the twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.
Single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad walls and a corrugated iron gabled roof house. The bull nosed verandah is supported by chamfered timber posts and timber balustrades. The following places form a significant group and contribute to the streetscape of Watkins Street; 52, 56, 62 & 64.
Rate Books record a cottage on this lot (34 of 84) in 1900. It was owned by the Church of England and occupied by Samuel Robinson, a Seaman. (Fremantle Rate Book records).
