House, 243 South Terrace is a single storey timber and tile house constructed as a simple variation of the Federation Bungalow style of Architecture. The walls are timber framed and clad with weatherboard. The roof is hipped and gabled and clad with cement tiles. The asymmetrical front façade has a door inset into the facade, flanked either side by windows, with another door under the gable end. There is a low asbestos fence to the front boundary line, with a timber picket gate.
The rate books show a dwelling and stables on Lot 5 (although the lot at this stage is not in parts) for a doctor and surgeon in 1903-4 and again in 1909-10, then 2 cottages on Part 7 of Lot 5 in 1920-2, no. 121 and 123 Mandurah Road. There is a note that the cottages are rated as 1 cottage.
High degree of integrity (original intent clear, current use compatible, high long term sustainability). High degree of authenticity with much original fabric remaining. (These statements based on street survey only).
Condition assessed as fair to good (assessed from streetscape survey only).
