Statement of Significance

The ABC Radio Transmitter, comprising two tall masts and ancillary equipment has cultural heritage significance as a local landmark and for its value to the community in providing radio entertainment and community information.

Physical Description

Compound with steel tower and ancillary equipment. The place comprises a fenced compound ancillary substation and elements and the central focus is the communication tower. The tower is steel lattice frame construction set on a concrete base, with stabilising guy cables. A second and taller tower has been erected on the eastern side of the original tower.

History

The transmitter provides a signal service to the regional community for entertainment and information. A second and taller tower was added between 1996 and 2005.
