Statement of Significance

Architecturally and aesthetically a home of great interest. Willed to the City of Fremantle – to be cared for and possibly to be made into a museum.

Physical Description

Set on nearly and acre of lane the red-roof brick and stone house is surrounded by well kept gardens, lawns and trees. Coachhouse and servant’s quarters also of stone – quarried from the site. Typical of late 19th century colonial style – delicate cast iron lace railings, friezes and brackets. Elegant furniture brought from England in 1829 in everyday use. House built around the iron hand pump which was originally sed and which is still retained providing an historic detail.
