The site represents a way of life no longer practiced.
The weather board and iron construction had living quarters extending along the south side of the bakery. The bakehouse was buiit of mud brick and the ovens were visible from the shop where there was a small counter at the front. Long handled paddles hung from the wall.
in 1924 Higginson established the bakery with some assistance from J Mullan senior. Previously bread and meat had been delivered by train. In 1928 Vague took over the bakery and ran it until about 1940 when the flour dust affected his lungs, and he was forced to close. At that time Brick from the Store, introduced a delivery run from Narrogin to provide Dudinin with fresh bread. Mason ran a blacksmith shop on lot 53 (next door).
