Physical Description

A cottage hospital with multiple additions in sympathy with the early structures resulting in an elegant accumulation of modest utilitarian structures.

History

Coolgardie's government hospital buildings survive, many of the others have perished. It is important as a representative type that demonstrates a committment of government to the Public Hospital system, in a year when there was considerable expenditure on government hospitals. The first St John of God's hospital was also in Coolgardie.
