Statement of Significance

The building forms part of the remnant stock which make up the historic town's fabric.

Physical Description

Brick and iron house built c.1880. Original details include two-tone Flemish bond brickwork, split pane sash windows, gabled front entry and beautiful original iron lacework.

History

Floor board timbers reputed to originate from trees on property. Built by Mr Howell as his house. He married 22 Feb 1887. His wife and child died at birth. Mr Howell remarried. He had owned 9 acres from East St to Terrace Rd, most under orchard. When the railway was extended the property was divided into two.
