The plaque is a reminder of this great time of growth and industry in the Flinders bay area and associated towns created by the trade in timber.
The railway complex was constructed by MC Davies for his timber industry. It ran the length of the jetty in order to facilitate the loading and unloading of the timber on and off the ships.
The plaque, which has been placed on the toilet block, marks the site of the old Flinders Bay railway stations. The station was in operation from 1880 to 1926. This railway complex was constructed by MC Davies for his timber industry. The railway line ran the complete length of the Flinders Bay jetty, also constructed by Davies, in order to facilitate the loading and unloading of the timber ion and off the ships. William Eldridge had originally constructed a wooden line in 1878.
