Statement of Significance

The graveyard is important for its ability to provide a large amount of historical information from the headstones. St Paul’s church and graveyard is one of a small number of rare and significant churches still in use. They are rare as they have been in continued use since the 1880’s (1).

Physical Description

The graveyard is attached to St Pauls Church (which was constructed in 1882-1885) and is approximately one acre in size. There are approximately 50 marked graves and around 6 unmarked graves within the graveyard. The earliest recorded burial is Catherine Whilhelmine Hamersley in 1884 although unmarked graves may be earlier.
