Physical Description

Floor adzed Jarrah, copper nails, wattle & daub original section of 2 rooms with verandah all round. Roof was timber shingles, now iron. Additional rooms, sun-baked brick walls in some cases walls sheeted with horizontal weather board.

History

Land is the original Lot 2, second oldest title in the Area being granted to J L Morley on 29.3.1832. In 1835 the land was transferred to Patrick Taylor who wrote to the Surveyor General on 11.6.1835 applying for the fee simple of the allotment, stating that his house was situated on the block. 14.10.1840 - release of allotment to J R Phillips 15.11.1843 - Mortgagt J.R. Phillips to Patrick Taylor 20.8.1845 Vendor J.R. Phillips, Purchaser P. Taylor In 1846 the property passed to Cambell Taylor, son of Patrick and on his death in 1902 to Dr Fairbairn the last remaining Taylor.
