Aesthetically significant as an example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical timber framed single storey cottage dating from the first decades of the twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.
Single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad walls (indented profile) and a zincalume hipped roof house, with a deep setback from the street. The roof extends over the verandah which is supported by timber posts. The following places form a significant group and contribute to the streetscape of Watkins Street; 61, 63, 67 & 67a.
This lot is now 16-20 of 79. In 1906/7 a cottage was on lot 16 & 17 of 79, lot 18 was vacant and lot 19&20 had a cottage with the owner, occupier as Henry Walwork, a Clerk. In 1910 a cottage is recorded on lot 19 & 20 of 79. (Fremantle Rate Book records).
