Statement of Significance

The place is of historic and aesthetic significance as an example of a commercial building in the Fremantle Town Centre dating from the early decades of the twentieth century.

Physical Description

Single storey stone building with a zero setback from the pavement. The parapet has a central pediment where 'DUX' appears.

History

Frank or Francis Henderson was the Fremantle Agent for F. R. Flindell, who were Cordial Manufacturers in William St, Perth in 1886. He owned lot 946 in Quarry st and established a bottling works there. Today this is known as the Dux building. Currently occupied by the Fremantle Arts Press.
