Physical Description

Sheep dip was built using bricks with a cement lining. Sheep were driven into a narrow race which directed them into the dip and then up steps onto a concrete pad.

History

Mr Ernie Chitty leased the land in 1949 or 1950 and built the sheep dip. It is on the site of a well at the 22 mile peg which was where market gardeners, coming down from Yanchep, camped overnight before going onto markets in Perth. Adjacent to the sheep dip Mr Chitty sank a well with cement liners. The sheep dip was based around a water channel connected to a swamp now known as Big Valley. Site of dip is adjacent to the old Stock Route.
