26090 Holland/Forrest Street Heritage Area
House, 92 Forrest Street is a single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad house with a Zincalume gabled roof. The verandah is separate to the main roof, supported by timber posts and decorative timber brackets. The split paned timber framed double hung sash windows are extant. There has been development at the rear of the block.
In 1904/5 Lot 1123 was owned by the Government. Rate Books list the occupant as W M Freer, a labourer (Fremantle Rate Book records). Numbers were allocated in 1905. The house was originally No. 169. It became number 92 when the whole street was renumbered in 1939. The 1911 sewerage map (No. 2133) shows a small weatherboard cottage with no verandah; only central steps at the front. The roof is in two parts, and there is a chimney on the east side of the north section of the roof. There is a rear verandah and some timber and galvanised iron outbuildings on the eastern boundary fence. A long-term resident from c1915 was Michael J King, followed by Mrs Elizabeth King, up to at least 1949 (when post office directory records cease). Aerial photos (Landgate) show that between 1985 and 1995 the lot was subdivided and another house built at the rear. No 92 was also extended at the back with a long, attached wing on the east side of the lot.
