Statement of Significance

The single storey brick, with rendered bands, timber and tiled residence, in the Federation Queen Anne style, has cultural significance because: it is fine example of a Federation Queen Anne bungalow, worthy of being considered an exemplar; it has historical association with A Y Glyde, Mark Chapman and Douglas Gordon, each of them being prominent citizens of Peppermint Grove; it forms part of a cultural group.

Physical Description

The residence is a fmely considered example of its style and period. Externally the place retains a high level of integrity.

History

The place appears to have been constructed for A Y Glyde, one of the public servants who were amongst the first stage residents in the suburb's development. The house was built by Mark Chapman, one of the Peppermint Grove's more notable builders of the period. The Gordons have been long term residents, since 1960, and continue the tradition of medical residents in the suburb.

Integrity/Authenticity

The place is a very pleasing example of its time, with finely considered proportions and details.
