Although modified with later additions, the original well-designed 1938 building is still clearly evident and retains its aesthetic character as a dominant aspect of the appearance of the whole building. The Albany Fire Station and Fire Officer's House is a unique example of the genre in Western Australia. It is also the only distinctive Art Deco styled building with the City of Albany.
Assessment 1999 Architect/Designer: K Duncan Builder: Burgess and Grove 1938: S.H. Barton and Sons 1971 Conservation recommendation summary: Every effort should be made to conserve this place which is valued by the local community. This building, one of a number constructed by the same architect throughout Western Australia, it is nevertheless the only one designed in the Streamline Moderne style in the state.
