He also donated the money to build the Gnowangerup Agricultural Hall in 1910. Aesthetic - Telyarup is a beautiful homestead, typical of the Nor-Wester's opulence. Social - The hub of social life in the 1910 - 1930 era. Weddings were held here, as well as many other social gatherings.

Physical Description

Telyarup Homestead, single-storey brick and iron farmhouse and associated farm structures. Displays quality craftsmanship. The Telyarup bricks were made on property the timbers imported from England. Telyarup had a private chapel with stained glass windows. Men's quarters made from local stone.

History

Telyarup was purchased by Mr Michael Corbett in 1906. In 1910 he built a rambling homestead in the style of the Nor-Westers, of which he had previously been. These were a group of people who had come down from the North West of the state, having made their money in this area. Most built large homesteads. The Telyarup bricks were made on property the timbers imported from England. Telyarup had a private chapel with stained glass windows, which had been blessed by the Pope before being shipped to WA. All fittings were given to the church when Mr Corbett sold the property in 1920 to HO Timms. Telyarup had stables, men's quarters, meatrooms and other outbuildings, some of which still remain. Telyarup is in the process of being renovated.
