Constructed from 1927, Constructed from 1908
The place is significant as the oldest surviving building in Quairading town. The hotel is a representative example of its period, and has considerable significance in the main street streetscape. It is an integral and vital element in the townscape of Quairading. The hotel is of historic significance for the role it played in the progress and development of the town of Quairading. The social value is considerable considering the associations with pioneers, travellers, sports-persons, farmers and townspeople, all who have visited the place
The original double storey brick structure with first floor verandahs above the street level pavement. Decorative timber balustrading and filigree roof line detail was along both street frontages. The roof is corrugated iron with a split verandah roof. The 1927 extensions consisted of enclosing the verandahs on the Cubbine Rd frontage, additions on the east side replicating and extending the Heal Street frontage, and extending north to the rear of the property. The construction was brick and iron in a manner such that it is indeterminable from the original. In the 1970s accommodation rooms in the c1927 area were refurbished to include two ensuite bathroom suites.
The hotel was built and operated by the members of the Heggarty family, who had also taken up land in Toapin Weir Road (see Ref 24 ). The lower storey of the part built hotel was opened when the railway came to Quairading in 1908. A licensed hotel in a wheatbelt town usually signals the progress of that town. (Narembeen- Emu Hill, Kulin -Jitarning) Quairading was no different, with the railway in close proximity, the hotel was a catalyst to Quairading's development. In 1921 Szczecinski bought the hotel, and in 1927 constructed a new dining room, kitchen and upper bedrooms. It is the oldest remaining building in Quairading, and only two storey structure in the main street.
Integrity: Some alterations but for the most part redeemable Authenticity: High degree retained for each period

The site is significant in its association with Leslie Stacey, Sunnyvale, and the fat lamb industry. The siding is representative of the railway network, success.
Leslie Stacey took over the Sunnyvale property after his father's death in 1932. He became a successful breeder of fat lambs, in 1942, a special train was commissioned to Badjalling Siding to transport over 3000 lambs direct to Robbs Jetty Abattoir. The train became an annual event with over 10000 lambs being transported in 1971, by two diesels and 88 sheep wagons, breaking the record for the longest stock train in the state. The consignment was also recognised as the largest from one grower in the world at the time. Leslie Stacey received an M.B.E. in 1963 for his services to the Fat lamb Industry, and when he died in 1972, his son Bryant carried on the tradition.

The site represents a way of life no longer practiced.
Education was an important issue for the settlers in the developing communities, as demonstrated by the community involvement, and the local focus. The centralisation of the system was the demise of the small community schools. The school closed in 1942, and the building was relocated to Balkuling in c1950.

Constructed from 1916
The place represents a way of life, and an element of settlement associated with commercial enterprises and services in the early towns.
Stone and iron residence, similar to the hospital and "Maidstone"
The Dangin and South Caroling Co-Operative Ltd (see Reference 152) came into being in 1916 when a committee of settlers rented EH White's store in Brockman St. The Co-op premises was later purchased and 19 settlers in addition to the 5 committee members bought shares. It was difficult to find a good manager, and it may be that the residence was constructed to attract a manager. The Co-op residence is over the road from where the Co-op was. Good managers for the Co-op were difficult to find until Frank Strickland who had worked at the Co-op since 1924, became the Manager in 1927. Between 1927 and 1946 when Frank Strickland managed the Co-op, he lived in the Co-op residence with his family. In 1946, the Co-op premises were enlarged and modernised. Sam Tyers took over as manager, and later Higgins, Mercer, Hollywell and Smith managed the place. As Dangin continued to decline, and Quairading prosper, the Dangin Co-op amalgamated with the Quairading Co-op in 1965, to become the Quairading and Districts Co-operative. The last manager left when the Co-op closed in 1965.

Constructed from 1947, Constructed from 1902
The site represents a successful commercial enterprise of which the early settlers were an integral part.
In 1836 Stephen Parker took up a pastoral selection at Dangin Springs, and in 1859 his son Edward Read Parker settled on the selection. After ER Parker's death in 1905, his son Jonah Smith Wells Parker took over the Dangin property. Parker allotted a portion of his estate for a townsite and donated land for most of the town's facilities. He built the first Dangin Store which was subsequently purchased by the White brothers in 1910. Six years later the Dangin and South Caroling Co-operative Society took over the store. The Co-op Society had evolved from the settlers buying bulk provisions through the Farmers' and Settlers' association, with JH Stone, the secretary, ordering and paying for the goods. Settlers paid for the goods on arrival at the siding. Although successful, a committee was needed to continue an efficient operation. In 1915 ,a committee was selected to look into the probability of a co-operative. JA Jones influenced the committee, and after JH Stone met with directors of the Westralian Farmers' Co-operative at a Farmers Conference in Perth, they started the co-operative. On 16 November 1916 the Co-operative opened, renting, with an option to purchase, EH White's Store with the Post Office attached. The original committee comprised JH Stone, GE Cook, T Richards, WG Haines, H Johnston, A Knox-Thompson and JA Jones. When the White's premises were purchased later, 400 shares were taken up by the committee and 19 other settlers. Good managers were difficult to find until Frank Strickland who had worked at the Co-op since 1924, became the Manager in 1927. Although during the 1910s, 20s and 30s two other stores provided keen competition in Dangin, one closed in 1933, and the other closed in 1941.

Association with pioneers and demonstration of a way of life.
Property was settled in the 1890s, and Fraser purchased in 1919. The area was originally known as the Badjaling Estate, a name which was later given to an area east of Quairading. In 1955 the mud brick dwelling was flooded causing considerable damage. The Fraser family developed a Poll Merino Stud.

Constructed from 1892
The site represents an exceptional achievement by the pioneer of the Dangin district. Associations with Parker, the Yarran family, the international and interstate recognition, and the FH Faulding company demonstrate the significance of this pioneering industry in Dangin.
Stone walled, bough timber sheds.
In 1836 Stephen Parker took up a pastoral selection at Dangin Springs. It was not until 1859, that his son Edward Read Parker settled on the selection. In 1892, a eucalyptus oil distillery was operating at the Dangin estate. JW Parker had designed and built the entire distillery, which was the first oil extraction procedure in Western Australia. The oil was extracted from young native salmon gum tress and distilled three times. It won first prize at the Melbourne Exhibition in 1893, and a commemorative award in Glasgow in 1901. It was an antiseptic with healing qualities. A branch of the operation was also operated at Wogerlin (in the Corrigin Shire). A number of members of the Yarran family worked on the Dangin estate and assisted in the oil distillery. Rising costs, increased interstate competition, and finally a destructive storm ended the industry in Dangin. FH Faulding in Perth purchased the manufacturing rights, effectively eliminating any opposition. The Faulding company still produce eucalyptus oil products.

The site is significant as the first pastoral lease and subsequently the first settlement in the Quairading Shire. The associations with the Parker family and the settlement of the Swan River Colony are significant, as is the future development of the property.
In 1836 Stephen Parker took up a pastoral selection at Dangin Springs. It was not until 1859, that his son Edward Read Parker settled on the selection. The first dwelling was a tent followed by a mud brick house which grew with the family, and subsequently burnt down. In 1892, a eucalyptus oil distillery was operating at the Dangin estate. After ER Parker's death in 1905, his son Jonah Smith Wells Parker took over the lease of the Dangin property which he had been managing since 1888 when his father had retired. Jonah Smith Wells was the second son of Edward and Mary (nee Wells) Parker, born at Dangin Park in 1863. JSW Parker's wife died in 1890, and his second wife, Clara Lillian Morris was a descendent of Mr A Broun, the first Colonial Secretary of the Swan River Colony. After inheriting Dangin Park from his father, JSW Parker built a new homestead and took up land on the Conditional purchase system (freehold). Parker had allotted a portion of his estate for a townsite, and by 1902, the town lots were surveyed and the town of Dangin declared. The town was surrounded by Dangin Estate, and fully fenced, with the only access through fences and gates on the Parker's property. Parker was influential in encouraging the railway link from Greenhills to Quairading, through Dangin, which facilitated further development of the town after 1908. In 1912 Jonah Parker introduced share farming onto Dangin Park, reducing his management and employee responsibilities on what was one of the largest properties in the state at the time. The same year, Parker developed Toapin Weir on the estate to provide the town of Dangin with a reticulated water supply. In 1920 the Dangin Park estate was subdivided into 19 blocks for a Soldier Settlement scheme. After World War Two the prosperity of Dangin town declined and gradually Quairading dominated. As part of the Australian bi-centennial celebrations in 1988 the site was recognised.
