The house is an example of a house built of concrete blocks representing the shortages of building materials in the post World War II period. The house has some aesthetic significance as an example of a post World War II residence in the outer metropolitan areas that were developed at the period. The house is of some significance and the hut is of considerable significance.

Physical Description

Lot 3, 29 Mereworth Way Girrawheen is located on the north side of Mereworth Way within the City of Wanneroo's South Ward. The site contains a house on the eastern portion of the block and a hut to the rear of the house. Grounds comprise predominantly grassed areas with a cyclone mesh fence across the front and a concrete slab path from the front gate to the door of the house. The house is single storey and constructed of concrete blocks that have been rendered. The roof is concrete tiles and there is a brick chimney. The hipped roof is gabled over the front room that projects forward. The roof extends over the concrete floored verandah which returns on the west side and is supported by concrete pillars onto a low wall balustrade. The house has timber framed windows extant and a corrugated iron water tank at the rear. Internally, there are four main rooms, timber floors and a brick fireplace in the lounge. The rectangular hut is timber framed on timber stumps and has weatherboard (unpainted) cladding. It has a corrugated asbestos clad gabled roof. On the west side there is a brick fireplace with metal flu and a weatherboard clad wood box. Internally, there is a Metters No2 wood stove. The hut is unlined but has newspaper lining to one wall.
