The place has historic and social significance for its association with Tom Neaves who was an active community participant both in the Agricultural Society and the Road Board. The house also has historic significance as one of the earliest built in the area.
Tom Neaves House is located at Lot 56, 44 Via Vista Drive, Mariginiup on a semi rural property on the east.side of Via Vista Drive within the City of Wanneroo's Central Ward. The house is not easily visible from the road and sits behind a two storey recent house. There is a chimney on the eastern elevation of what appears to be a stone cottage which is possibly whitewashed or rendered. Information provided by CoW concludes that the house is a single storey limestone cottage and cgi hipped roof with a chimney on the external wall. (CoW)
Mariginiup is named after Mariginiup Lake. The lake name was recorded by surveyors in 1844, and a townsite was declared there in 1904. This Aboriginal name is said to mean 'to pull out flag leaved flax'. It was named as a suburb in 1982. Tom Neaves married Nell Britain, daughter of Joseph who was in 1903 Post Office Directories listed as carrier. A photograph in the Western Mail dated May 19 1909 shows Thomas C. Neaves as one of the winners of the log chopping competition at the inaugural show of the Wanneroo Agricultural SocietyThomas Cooper Neaves was a Road Board Member for a total of 17 years between 1915 and 1949. House believed to have built in 1913.Honey Display at Wanneroo Show from at least 1913 and at other places including the Royal Show. One of the first registered apiarists in WA. T.C. Neaves was involved in the Agricultural Society and was included on the list of officers in the Jubilee year of 1958.

Specifically these kilns are significant as the industry of the first settlers in Quinns Rocks, who diversified to survive the hardships of the depression. The kilns have high significance due to their association with the depression era when the business was sufficiently successful as it was able to provide work for new migrants and the unemployed
The two tower kilns are unusual due to their style. The tower is square with emptying grills, made of steel railway line, into loading bays. Firing ports are at the side. The roof over the loading bays is no longer in situ. When the area was subdivided the developers undertook conservation work on the kilns, which were interpreted and placed in public open space (POS). Generally the kilns are now in reasonable condition.
Operated by the Cooper family from 1932 to 1948 (brothers Harry, Athol and Daniel), whose later kilns in Nowergup are no longer extant. The family company was known as the Quinns Rock Lime Stone Company. It is unusual in the Wanneroo district for lime kilns to be located near the coast, where the kilns were able to take advantage of the sea breezes to fan their fire. The other Wanneroo limekiln sites are located inland near wetlands and the limestone ridge. Though some stories indicate that Albert Facey worked at this site, his description of the lime kilns could apply to several kilns in the district.

Pappas Swamp (around Lake Neerabup) is named after John Pappas (Jean Papavasiliou) who bought the land c1930. He then leased plots of land there to Southern European Market gardeners. European migrants settled in the area with their families, leased out land until into the 1950s. It was a condition of the lease that the house had to be removed at the end of the lease, so most houses were basic in construction. A typical house had walls made of hessian bags coated with lime to make them stiff and waterproof with a roof of timber and corrugated iron. At the same time as leasing land to market gardners Pappa began a lime-buming business, Perth Lime and Stone Company. He is known to have had at least four kilns in the area around Lake Neerabup.

Some significance for association with early settler and lime-burning industry.
When inspected in 1999 it was a collapsed single kiln, partially obscured by vegetation. Whilst currently in private ownership the property is to become part of Neerabup National Park.
Mackay suggests that if Lunder's kiln then post 1932 when he arrived in Australia, not 1910 as indicated in earlier report. Thus it is unlikely to be the oldest in the district as previously suggested.

Constructed from 1903
Edwards House (ruins) has historical significance for its associations with the early settlement of the Wanneroo area. The ruins have aesthetic significance as an example of picturesque stone buildings in a rural setting. The place is significant for associations with migration and farming in the Wanneroo area in the Inter-War period and immediately post World War II.
Edwards House (Ruins) is located on Lot 105 on Plan DP 231081 Vol 73 Folio 56A, Flynn Drive, Neerabup within the City of Wanneroo's North Ward and Pappas Swamp Precinct. The place comprises stone ruins in a rural setting situated on the north side of Flynn Drive and south of Wattle Avenue. The land is largely covered with established trees and shrubs with some cleared areas. Evidence of a homestead comprises a limestone rectangular ruin which no longer has a roof. There appear to be three rooms, with a chimney breast, door and window openings and some timber lintels extant. There is also a small stone cottage of unknown origin with a gabled roof on the south side of the ruins.
Neerabup is named after Lake Neerabup which was first recorded by surveyor J. Cowle in 1867. Aboriginal derivation of the name is possibly 'swampy place' or 'small basin or lake'. Another version of the spelling is Neerabub. This lake is also known as Pappas Swamp. The suburb name was approved in 1982. Arthur J. Edwards (b.1857) leased the area from 1903, farmed and built Edwards House. The house with its substantial walls of unusual height was vacant by 1937. The land had been previously owned by Samuel Moore who had been granted it in 1842 by Governor Hutt. The property was subsequently used by the Trandos family in the post World War II period. Dimitrios Trandos arrived in 1938 from Greece where he had left his family behind until he could earn enough to send for them. He worked on a farm near Moora and was finally able to bring his family to WA after WWII in 1949 that he. Trandos' Dairy was subsequently established with the family moving from Flynn Drive in the early 1950s. Dimitrios's son, market gardener Nicolas (Nick) Trandos, was Wanneroo's first mayor. The current (2004) owners Cockbum Cement leased the property to Laura Duffy who set up Duffy's Riding School that operated on the property until 2002.

High significance as it places the lime kilns in the context of a multi-cultural community. High social value from community for the Pappas Swamp area for its history of small leases, market gardening and lime kilns. These kilns are representative of single entry lime kilns in the district.
A hut near the kilns has recently collapsed but other signs of domestic life remain, including olive trees, grape vines, a well, etc. Remnants of domestic life, including some introduced species e.g. grape vine, should be considered part of assessment. Fire damage has caused loss of some remnant features. The kilns are in fair condition as they are partly collapsed and in danger of structural damage from trees growing in them as well as from wild fires in the area.
Over 200 families lived in the area in simple housing, such as bag houses, in the 1950s, with a number of people involved in lime production. A site visit with a former resident identified these kilns as those operated by Ivan Antisich. Antisich operated the kilns between 1934 and 1960 as the Direct Lime and Wood Supply. The lime burners lived at the site, nearby the many people who had market gardens around Neerabup Lake / Pappas Swamp.

Constructed from 1955
Significant for links with Pappas and Menchetti families as well as Pappas Swamp Precinct
These two kilns are very difficult to access being located in bush on the ridge on the western side of Neerabup lake. An inspection in December 2002 was the first time the kilns have been recorded as located for nearly 20 years. They are 'D' shaped and are in reasonable condition, though extremely overgrown.
According to Brittain the kilns were built by Pappas in 1955 and therefore are amongst the last built in the district.

The 10th Light Horse Campsite has historic significance for its association with the 10th Light Horse Regiment for its involvement in the war within the City of Wanneroo. It has social significance to the community of Wanneroo.
Included in the Wanneroo Road Group
The 10th Light Horse Regiment was formed in Western Australia following the outbreak of WW1. In 1940, during the Second World War the title changed to 10th Reconnaissance Battalion (W.A.M.I.). By 1942 the title was once again changed to 10th L.H. Regiment (W.A.M.I.) with yet another change to 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment occurring in the same year. In 1943 the unit gained A.I.F. status however did not serve overseas. This was the second campsite and was used from December 1943. The 10th Light Horse Regiment was the last Australian Mounted Cavalry unit and this was disbanded at their campsite in Wanneroo in April 1944. It was developed into a Heritage Trail by the City of Wanneroo in 1994. At Wanneroo they patrolled possible enemy landing places along the deserted WA coastline, but as this threat decreased so did the need for their services. This campsite was code-named Brad. Up to 600 horsemen, their horses and equipment set up camp at this place. (The first campsite was approximately where the City of Wanneroo's works depot in Ashby is now located.)

This kiln has significance for its links with John Pappas, early kiln operator and land owner in the Neerabup area and ias an early example of such kilns.
Located on a ridge in the middle of the block, this is a single kiln with doors and arches partially collapsed when seen during a site visit in December 2002.
The kiln is believed to have been associated with John Pappas from 1920s, and as such would have been his first kiln. It was at its highest level of use during the depression years. However, there is no documentary evidence to support the Pappas story.

The kilns have significance for their links with the Menchetti family. Public ownership shows the social value of these kilns. With their visibility from Wanneroo Road and intactness they also have aesthetic value.
These three arch double kilns are set into a limestone rock face with a quarry nearby. The bagging floor is almost completely overgrown. Good condition, fenced but heavy regrowth of vegetation. The loading site above kilns is not fenced and has become overgrown. The site is adjacent to other heritage places, such as Orchestra Shell Cave and near to Pappas Swamp.
The kilns were operated between 1958 and 1968 by the Neerabup Lime Company, run by Neil Menchetti. These kilns are the only ones visible from Wanneroo Road and have relatively easy public access.

Constructed from 1930
High significance as one of the oldest kilns in the district
In January 2003 owner advised that kiln still extant, and whilst condition is poor original its use is obvious
The kiln is believed to have been constructed by Brady, a home builder. Brady was also a contractor for the Wanneroo Roads Board in 1935/6 for road building. This era includes the laying of limestone for road. The kiln probably commenced operations c1930. It is unusual to have a kiln built on what was the family's residential block.

Has some significance as older kiln incorporated into newer kilns.
Kiln noted to be 70m north of house but now appears to be incorporated into extant kilns 51, 52 i.e. one of these was an extension of earlier kiln 13. It is the eastern one that still has a free-standing interior wall, that implies the enlargement of the earlier Kiln 13. The 'D' shaped kilns present today have rounded buttresses and comparatively small burning chambers. The kilns have large cracks in their side walls, the upper walls have collapsed but timberwork still exists around the doorways. Vegetation is now close to structure and the bagging floor has become overgrown.
The New Wanneroo Lime Company operated the later kilns (51, 52) c1957 - 1967.
